Kansas Part The First

So here we are in Wichita (we've been here for 5 days, actually, and have already stayed in 2 different hotels.  The first one was a NIGHTMARE (I can't stress this enough).  We had a full bed; they called it full anyway, I called it a twin with an extra 2 inches.  Of course the only option for Jacob was sleeping with us or in the recliner of dubious cleanliness in the corner of the room.  Where was the couch that the website and the brochure that I ganked from the lobby promised me in the room?  Did it leave b/c the room was so disgustingly small and wrong?  I'll bet it did.  It was supposed to be extended stay which means (and was advertised) a "full" kitchen.  Their idea of a full kitchen was a mini-fridge; okay, not mini exactly, somewhere in between full sized and mini, a microwave and a two burner cook top.  No oven, one pot, one pan, two plate and one bowl to eat on and one set of silverware.  Wait, there was also a coffee mug and two juice sized glasses along with one regular glass.  I wasn't happy to say the least.  For the first time EVER though, I didn't have a fit, I didn't insist that we move (6 months ago I would have).  I resigned myself to almost a month of making the best of it.  TJ ended up sleeping in the recliner the two nights we stayed there.  In the end, though, TJ was livid about it and talked to one of the other hotel reps. that came to Flight Safety and she got us into a new hotel, The Broadview. It's beautiful!  We're on the 8th floor in a suite that actually has a pull out couch along with the king sized bed.  Jacob has a bed of his own to sleep in that isn't right next to ours - we won't have to give up the "push push" for the whole month duration of our stay.  Hip hip hooray!!!  Makes conceiving pretty damn difficult and let's admit it, it's just plain fun!  LOL

They are having something called the River Festival here this weekend and all through next week.  It's right outside the hotel.  Huge parade tonight and fireworks show (Jake loved it).  There are other activities, a carnival and lots of other things that Jake can do here.  We're planning a trip to the zoo for him next weekend.  I love the zoo and I know he will too.

We leave tomorrow morning for Mineral Wells, TX to see my friend Brooke and her Dad; Jacob's "Papa Wynn".  It will be so great to see someone I talk to daily but haven't gotten to see in over a year and actually spend time with in almost 4 years.  here that Brooke?  It's your turn next.  Come to Kazoo, you know you want to...LOL

I'm off to bed now.  It's late and I'm tired; it seems I'm always tired these days. No news on the baby making front yet.  We're trying our damndest, but it takes time and so much of it is wait and see.  I haven't ovulated yet this month, so we're definitely still in the running for a late Feb. 2008 bundle of joy.  Fingers crossed. Night y'all.
